Estimada Sra. Alcaldesa,

con gran desconsuelo vemos que otra vez el centro canino internacional está en peligro. En su día protestamos contra el decreto que firmó la anterior alcadesa, Sra. Cirer, y parecía que usted estaba con nosotros y ahora... ¡que desilusión!

Sra. Calvo, tantas personas no comprendemos cómo se pueden poner tantas trabas a una organización sin afán de lucro, que se dedica a salvar animales maltratados, abandonados como trastos inútiles por ciudadanos de Mallorca. Los vecinos del Camí de ses Barraques, que han movido todo este asunto, declaran estar dispuestos a tolerar un 'criadero' de perros, es decir, no les importa producir más animales que, previsiblemente, acabarán a su vez abandonados, ya que en estos momentos ya hay mucha más oferta que demanda. ¿No es eso un contrasentido?

Llevar a los perros a Son Reus no es una solución, pues todos sabemos que estas instalaciones siempre están llenas y que se sacrifican animales jóvenes y sanos (no hablemos de los enfermos y viejos) al cabo de 20 días de su ingreso en las jaulas.

Tal vez a usted no le importen los animales, estando ocupada en tratar de resolver tantos problemas como los que usted y su equipo se hayan podido encontrar al hacerse cargo del Ayuntamiento de Palma. Pero creame, somos muchas las personas que estamos convencidos de que los animales se parecen mucho a los humanos: aman, sufren, se alegran y padecen como nosotros.

A los votantes de su partido nos deja desolados. Por favor, reconsidere su decisión y deje que las personas del centro sigan con su labor humanitaria y no deje que sacrifiquen unos seres inocentes que ya han sufrido mucho a mano de los hombres.

Dear Mayoress,

we are quite upset to learn that once again the Centro Canino Internacional is in danger. At the time when Mrs. Cirer was mayoress and signed a similar decree, we protested, and we were in the belief that you supported us ... what a disappointment!

Mrs. Calvo, there are very many people who just fail to understand, why so many obstacles are thrown in the way of this non-profit organisation, dedicated only to the rescue of animals, which have been ill treated, abandoned or thrown away like garbage by the very inhabitants of Mallorca.

The neighbours of Camí de ses Barraques, who originally started the matter, declare that they would accept a dog's breeder at that place. This means, that they are quite willing to accept the production of more animals, which will probably sooner or later be abandoned, as there is much more offer than demand. Obviously a contradiction, or not?

To send these dogs to Son Reus is no solution at all. We all know, that their facilities are always overcrowded and many of the young and healthy animals are killed, once the 20 days from their entering the cages have passed (not to speak of unhealthy or old animals).

Perhaps you are no longer interested in animals, as you and your staff are now dealing with so many problems, being in charge of the city council of Palma. But you may believe, that a very large number of us are convinced, that animals are quite similar to human beings: The love, they grieve, they enjoy and they suffer quite the same.

Please reconsider your decision and allow the people from CCI to go on with their humanitarian work. Do not let the innocent beings, which have already suffered from human hands, now be killed.

Sehr geehrte Frau Bürgermeisterin,

mit großer Bestürzung sehen wir, dass das Centro Canino Internacional wieder in Gefahr ist. Damals protestierten wir gegen das von der vorigen Bürgermeisterin, Frau Cirer, erlassene Dekret und wir hatten den Eindruck, dass Sie uns unterstützen würden ... und jetzt ... welche Enttäuschung!

Frau Calvo, sehr sehr viele Menschen verstehen nicht, warum diesem Verein ohne Gewinnstreben so viele Hindernisse in den Weg gelegt werden, dem es nur darum geht, die von den Bürgern Mallorcas misshandelten, ausgesetzten und wie Sperrmüll weggeworfenen Tiere zu retten. Die Anwohner des Camí de ses Barraques, die dieses Problem aufgeworfen haben erklären, dass nichts dagegen hätten, wenn dort ein Hundezüchter seine Anlagen betreiben würde. Es macht ihnen offensichtlich nichts aus, weiterhin Tiere zu produzieren, die dann wahrscheinlich wieder ausgesetzt werden, denn im Augenblick gibt es wesentlich mehr Angebot als Nachfrage. Ist das nicht ein krasser Widerspruch?

Die Hunde nach Son Reus zu bringen ist keine Lösung. Wir alle wissen, dass diese Einrichtungen immer überfüllt sind und junge, gesunde Tiere 20 Tage nach Einlieferung in die Käfige getötet werden (ganz zu schweigen von den kranken und alten).

Vielleicht müssen Sie mit Ihren Mitarbeitern so viele Probleme lösen, seit Sie das Rathaus von Palma übernommen haben, dass die Tiere für Sie nicht mehr von Bedeutung sind. Aber glauben Sie mir, viele von uns sind überzeugt, dass die Tiere uns Menschen sehr gleichen: Sie lieben, fühlen, freuen sich und leiden genau wie wir.

Wir, die Wähler Ihrer Partei, sind zutiefst enttäuscht. Bitte überprüfen Sie noch einmal Ihre Entscheidung und gestatten Sie, dass die Menschen dieses Tierheims ihre humanitäre Arbeit fortführen können. Erlauben Sie nicht, dass unschuldige Wesen, die von Menschen bereits genug erlitten haben, jetzt auch noch getötet werden.
